Flag-raising at the Legislative Assembly of Alberta
April 30, 2018
While Senator Ngo hosted the Flag-raising ceremony on Parliament Hill, another flag-raising ceremony took place at the Legislative Assembly of Alberta on April 30. A motion introduced by Mr. Jason Kenney, was adopted by the Alberta legislature recognizing Journey to Freedom Day, allowing the Vietnamese Heritage and Freedom Flag to be raised for the very first time in Edmonton. The UCP Caucus was delighted to host the Alberta Vietnamese community leaders at the Alberta Legislature on this historic day to commemorate the struggles of the many Vietnamese Canadians who came to Canada seeking freedom and prosperity, following the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War. Community organizations from Saskatoon, Calgary, and Edmonton gathered on the grounds of the Alberta Legislature to attend the inaugural event.
