TMAT Gala and 50th Commemoration of the Tet Offensive Massacre of 1968

On March 3, Senator Ngo joined the Vietnamese Canadian community in Toronto to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Tet Offensive Massacre of 1968. Although in Vietnamese culture, The Lunar New Year or “Tet” is a time for celebration and new hope, the Tet Offensive Massacre marked a dark chapter in Vietnamese history. The tragedy is commemorated so that it is never forgotten nor repeated. The commemoration also serves to give a voice to those still fighting for justice and human rights.
Also on March 3, the Taiwan Merchants Association of Toronto (TMAT) held its 23rd Annual Gala Night at the Markham Event Center. Senator Ngo was invited as a special guest to join in celebration of the Chinese New Year. The occasion also honoured the valuable contributions to of the TMAT to Canada’s strength and prosperity over the past twenty-three years. The evening included speeches by Senator Ngo and special guests, as well as performances and award presentations.
