Asian Heritage Month on Parliament Hill
May 1, 2018
On May 1, Senator Ngo co-hosted an annual celebration on Parliament Hill in honour of Asian Heritage Month. Together with Senator Ataullahjan, Senator Omidvar, Senator Jaffer, Senator Oh, Senator Martin, and Senator Woo, Senator Ngo invited senators and members of parliament to discover the tastes and traditions of various Asian countries. These included Korea, Vietnam, China, Singapore, India, and Pakistan. Guests also included Executive members of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) and of the Cambodian Association of Ottawa-Valley (CAOV). Thanks to the graciousness of Mr. Luong Le Phan, President of the Vietnamese Canadian Community in Ottawa (VCCO), the Vietnamese booth exhibited literature and cultural artifacts that offered a glimpse of Vietnam’s story. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Larry Smith, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, and Mr. Andrew Scheer, Leader of the Official Opposition.
