STATEMENT BY THE HONOURABLE SENATOR NGO ON THE MILLION HEARTS, ONE VOICE CAMPAIGN
November 27th, 2012 – Ontario Senator Thanh Hai Ngo issued the following statement today after signing the petition for the Million Hearts, One Voice, a worldwide campaign to stop the arbitrary sentencing of Vietnamese journalists and peaceful activists.
“I invite everyone, particularly Vietnamese Canadians, and call on all Canadian organizations to support the struggle for democracy, social justice and human rights in Vietnam.”
“Your signature in the Democracy for Vietnam Campaign has a far reaching impact; it sends a very clear message. It calls for the well-being and the liberty of the Vietnamese people and condemns the oppressive actions of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. We must unite as one voice and join forces to condemn the arbitrary sentencing of Vietnamese journalists and political activists who have been deprived of their liberties.”
“These Vietnamese citizens are fighting for the values we cherish today in Canada: freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Your signature will carry tremendous weight on their behalf and your active participation can truly make a difference.”
