Statement on the Devastating Taiwan Earthquake

The Canada-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group issued the following statement in response to the earthquake that occurred in southern Taiwan on Saturday, February 6, 2016: “The Canada-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group would like to express their deepest sympathies to those who have lost loved ones as a result of the earthquake in southern Taiwan.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those in Taiwan affected by this earthquake as well as those Taiwanese-Canadians who have felt the impact of this devastating natural disaster two days before the start of Lunar New Year celebrations.
“Relatives and friends seeking information on Canadian citizens believed to be in the affected areas should contact the Emergency Watch and Response Centre by calling 1-800-387-3124 or 613-996-8885. They can also send an email to sos@international.gc.ca.”
