Senator Ngo Condemns Murder of Worshipers at Québec City Mosque
January 30, 2017
OTTAWA – Senator Thanh Hai Ngo released this statement following the deadly attacks on worshipers at the Sainte-Foy Islamic Cultural Centre:
“I express my deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those killed and injured in the attack at the Quebec City Islamic Centre.
I condemn the tragic and fatal shooting of worshipers at the Centre culturel islamique de Québec located in the Ste-Foy neighborhood of the city of Quebec. This senseless attack in a peaceful place of worship and refuge is a grave affront to the values of tolerance and religious freedom that Canadians hold dear.
Canadians of any religion, race, and background must feel free to believe as they choose their faith and practice their belief peacefully and without the threat of coercion or violence. It is our duty to safeguard the expression and the practice of faith in Canada and around the world.
We stand in solidarity with the families, the victims, and the Muslim community in reminding ourselves that such senseless terrorist acts will not be accepted.”
