Montreal Tet 2015

On February 8th, 2015, the Honourable Senator Thanh Hai Ngo, Minister Kenney and Thomas Mulcair were joined by members of the federal, provincial and municipal government to celebrate alongside Montreal’s vibrant Montreal Vietnamese community at the Montreal Tet Festival. Senator Ngo being the first Canadian Vietnamese Senator was warmly welcomed as he addressed the community saying goodbye to the year of the Horse and welcome the year of the Goat, he congratulated the community for their major achievements this past year and awarded organizations of the Montreal community with certificates of recognition from the Right Honourable Prime Minister Harper. Minister Jason Kenney then spoke proudly of Canada’s role as a beacon of refuge for Vietnamese fleeing the horrors of Communism and of how Canada continues to help Vietnamese refugees who had been stranded in Southeast Asia.
